Friars Deal Arrows 3-2 Defeat
|
The San Francisco Friars, despite a fine performance by Seattle pitcher B.J. Terriquez, grabbed a 3-2 win at Staples Field. Terriquez allowed 2 runs over 5.2 innings. San Francisco reliever Cruz Ponce got the win, raising his record to 4-4. Raul Madera was tagged with the loss. The third-place Friars sport a record of 67-60.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Amdre Ceclio was at the plate when San Francisco scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Friars to go in front, 3-2.
In postgame comments, Ceclio told the San Francisco Daily News: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
