Thunderbirds Shut Out Arrows, 3-0
|
In a well-pitched game between the Phoenix Thunderbirds and the Seattle Arrows, pitcher Julio Carpinteyro was fantastic. The Phoenix right-hander helped his team secure the win, 3-0. The winner was Carpinteyro. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Victor Roman. Justin Wicker closed out the game, earning his 26th save.
Billy Morf had a big run-scoring double for the Thunderbirds in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Phoenix leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Victor Roman and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunderbirds ahead, 2-0.
Phoenix manager Joe Busch commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
The Thunderbirds win now puts them at 58-67.
