Portland (E) Lobster starter Antonio Avellaneda pitched effectively against the Boston Greens at Ballpark of Portland. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 5-2 win. The winning pitcher was Avellaneda, now 8-12. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. John Colon got credit for the save for Portland (E). It was his 15th of the year.
Brian Sides hit a 2-run double off Dryden Ice in the bottom of the first, which put the Lobster in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Sides had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Avellaneda.
