Metropolitanos Continue Skid, Thanks to Santoli, Avispas
|
Santiago took on Havana in front of a lively crowd.
Santiago left fielder Mike Santoli had a 4-RBI game, leading his team in its 7-2 defeat of the Havana Metropolitanos. Santoli picked up 2 singles and 2 doubles in the ballgame. Roberto Davila, the winner, improved to 7-3. He held the Metropolitanos to 2 runs on 2 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3.
With Santiago leading 4-2 in the top of the ninth, Santoli hit a cutter from Fish Rablood for a bases-clearing double. It was his 22nd double of the season and put the Avispas ahead, 7-2.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Santiago manager Jacob Pauly.
The Avispas sit in first place in the Eastern Conference Paul Pagac Division with a record of 71-54.
