Narrow Win Takes Chicago Streak to 9
|
In a tight tilt between Chicago and Denver, pitcher Juzo Matsumoto was a key contributor. The left-hander earned accolades for his standout performance in the 3-2 Phantoms win. Teh-huai Yap got the save, the 3rd for him this season. Chicago occupies second place in the Western Conference Felipe Solorzo Division at 68-57.
Jin-young Choe, who is tied for 7th in the WC in bases on balls with 76, had a direct impact on the outcome. Choe contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Chicago up, 3-2.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Phantoms manager Sam J. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
