7-1 Gaedels Win over Vikings Evens Season Record
St. Louis registered a win at Veeck Park by beating the Minneapolis Vikings, 7-1. Pitcher Andres Carrasquillo was one reason why the Gaedels triumphed. In 7 innings, Carrasquillo surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. J.P. DeVore, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.

Rex Rawnsley had a big bases-clearing double for the Gaedels in the bottom of the eighth inning. With St. Louis leading 4-1 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Rooksberry and swatted a double to center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gaedels ahead, 7-1.

"There's a lot of fight left in this team," said Carrasquillo.

With the win, the Gaedels improved to 63-63.
