Glaciers Drop Athletics, 10-1
|
The Denver Glaciers and starting pitcher Taxi Sabala stifled the Kansas City offense en route to a comfortable 10-1 win at Ballpark of Missouri. Sabala, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The Glaciers have now won 4 straight.
Edgar Albuja had a big run-scoring double for the Glaciers in the top of the second inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from Yobal Ulacia, who finished 2nd in the EC in strikeouts with 256 in 2069, and swatted a double to right. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Glaciers ahead, 2-0.
Kansas City manager Joe Monagle said "nothing went right"in the blowout loss.
