Harfangs Go Down to Defeat, 5-4
|
The Montreal Harfangs and Havana Metropolitanos provided some drama for the home crowd.
No one was more impactful than Xadreque Esperana in the 5-4 Havana win over Montreal. Esperana, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2074, was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Huggy Bruce picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 12-10.
Esperana had a timely hit for Havana in the bottom of the seventh. With Montreal trailing 4-3, he turned a first pitch fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 39th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Havana.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Esperana said. "That's how it goes."
The Metropolitanos now own a record of 71-54.
