Browns Claim Late Win
|
The Havana Metropolitanos could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kane Lancaster into a win. Instead, the Brooklyn Browns prevailed, 5-3. Lancaster threw 7.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Derek Bath snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 2-1 on the season. Getting the save was Jeff Boffa, his 1st.
Eric Bickel came through with a big-time hit for Brooklyn. The pinch hitter smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Bickel attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
The second-place Browns are now 69-54, the Metropolitanos 61-64.
