Kansas City Beats St. Louis, 4-1
|
The Kansas City Athletics rode a solid performance from 26-year-old starting pitcher Gerald Tanton to a win, beating the St. Louis Gaedels, 4-1, at Veeck Park. Tanton yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 13-6. Getting the save was Elijah Yates, his 12th.
Kansas City used a well-timed hit by D.J. Trigg to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Athletics ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Gerald did a heck of a job," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle.
The Athletics now have a record of 73-51.
