Polo Grounds II hosted a real pitchers' duel.

In a tightly-contested game between the New York Titans and the Tucson Toros, pitcher Salvatore Castellon was outstanding. The New York left-hander, who is tied for 5th in the EC in strikeouts with 142, propelled his team's 1-0 win. The Titans improved to 60-62.

Had DeMario Natividad not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Natividad hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Titans.

"It was our day today," Natividad told the New York Observer. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
