Chicago Loses, 4-2, to Washington in 11
|
Led by Arturo Mejia, the Washington Senators downed the Chicago Phantoms, 4-2. Mejia was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Senators. Washington reliever Jose Nereida picked up the win to move to 5-8. Norbert Maeda suffered the loss. The Senators go to 48-73 with the win.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With one out, Mejia hit a cutter from Norbert Maeda for a 2-run home run. The Senators, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Mejia after the game.
