Thunderbirds Win at Home, 7-2
|
Phoenix Thunderbirds starter Julio Carpinteyro turned in a top-notch performance against the Denver Glaciers at Legednary Park. The result was a win for the Thunderbirds, 7-2. Carpinteyro, the winner, moves to 7-9. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks. The second-place Thunderbirds are now 56-64, the Glaciers 74-47.
Matt Lacher chipped in a 3-run home run for Phoenix in the bottom of the second. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Carpinteyro.
