Avispas Knock Off Denver, 6-5
|
The Denver Glaciers and Santiago Avispas provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Santiago Avispas beat the Denver Glaciers, 6-5, in part because of right fielder Mayumi Watanabe. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Santiago has now won 3 in a row.
Watanabe had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Raul Garibaldi, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Avispas a 6-4 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Watanabe.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Watanabe. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
