Jose Ortiz, who is tied for 2nd in the WC in complete games with 1, was locked in. The left-hander led the Minneapolis Vikings to a 5-3 win against the Vancouver Wolves at Fox-Chong Park. Ortiz, now 7-9, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Minneapolis is now 72-47. Vancouver is 51-69.

Omar Ozoa had a big 2-run home run for the Vikings in the top of the third inning. With Minneapolis leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old left-handed pitcher Juan Pinon and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Vikings on top, 4-0.

"Jose -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Vikings manager Ace Cooan. "He was the key to us winning."
