Floundering Stars Lose 6th Straight
|
Starting pitcher Antonio Equihua did his part in helping the Houston Aquas thwart the Los Angeles Stars, 1-0. Ron Gelsomino got the save, his 8th in 10 chances. Houston leads the Western Conference Felipe Solorzo Division by 12½ games.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Frank Lung came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Raul Alcaraz, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Houston on top, 1-0.
Lung attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
