Behind an impressive start by Mike Trice, Buffalo beat Washington, 2-1. Trice, now 10-5, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Johnny Wickwire earned the save, his 3rd, for the Rangers.
Buffalo used a well-timed hit by Bejo Ananas to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Some games build character," said Buffalo manager Alex Beckman. "Like this one."
Buffalo is 59-59 and Washington, with the loss, 50-68.
