Browns Earn Clutch Win, 3-2
|
The Brooklyn Browns, despite a fine performance by Phoenix pitcher Matt Nyholm, grabbed a 3-2 win in 11 innings at Legednary Park. Nyholm allowed 2 runs over 6.1 innings. The first-place Browns have a record of 70-46.
Brooklyn used the timely hitting of Allen Blagburn to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Browns on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Browns manager Jason Cormier.
