Getting an impressive start from Matt Nyholm, Phoenix beat Portland by the score of 4-2. Nyholm went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-3. Phoenix goes to 15-23, Portland to 25-11.
Tony Tinoco hit a 2-run triple off Jonas Juarbe in the bottom of the third, which put the Thunderbirds in front, 2-1. In addition to the triple, Tinoco had 2 singles and 1 walk, while going 3 for 3.
After the game, Phoenix manager Joe Busch applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
