Chicago Phantoms starter Juzo Matsumoto turned in an exceptional performance against the Tucson Toros at Foster Field, resulting in a Chicago win, 3-2. Ricky Minjarez snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-1 on the season. Yuuya Usui suffered the loss. The Phantoms lead the Western Conference Nala Forcelledo Division by a game.

Chicago went up, 3-2, on Walter Gravel's 18th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Gravel hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Tucson pitcher Yuuya Usui stewing.

Said losing manager Rick Barnes: "Not taking anything away from them, but we swung the bats better than what it showed."
