Carpinteyro Now 9-4 After Beating Angels

The Phoenix Thunderbirds downed the San Antonio Angels, 4-0, at Tesoro Stadium. Stellar pitching by Julio Carpinteyro had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, the 5th overall pick in the 2074 draft, handcuffed his opponent all game. The victory gives Phoenix a record of 67-49.
Carpinteyro, a native of Río Grande, Puerto Rico, was dealing all game. He kept San Antonio hitters off-balance, while giving the Thunderbirds 7 quality innings. Carpinteyro threw 92 pitches, allowing 1 hit and striking out 8.
"I made good pitches, kept the ball out of the middle of the plate for the most part," said Carpinteyro.
