Avispas Win, 4-3, Versus Wolves

In a close game at Fox-Chong Park, the Santiago Avispas edged the Vancouver Wolves, 4-3. Santiago second baseman Zach Gavula stood apart with his performance. He belted 2 home runs. The winning pitcher was Antonio Avellaneda. His record is now 3-2. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits for the Avispas. The win lifted the Santiago record to 22-15.
Santiago used the bat of Dave Yerges to capture the win. The designated hitter jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Avispas ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Santiago manager . "It's usually not just one thing."
