Guest Lobster Win, 8-2, at Washington
|
The Maine Lobster beat the Washington Senators, 8-2, at The ESPN Zone. Leon Rose was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The 27-year old center fielder was a menace to Washington all day. The winning pitcher was John Liberty. He's now 10-6. He went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits for the Lobster. With this game in the books, Maine is 54-61, Washington 41-74.
Maine used a clutch at-bat from Roberto Fondin to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Lobster ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Washington manager Josh Cooan.
