Phantoms Lose, 6-3, to Kansas City
|
The Kansas City Athletics defeated the Chicago Phantoms, 6-3, in Western Conference action at Foster Field. Kansas City pitcher Keaton Bozek had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Bozek, now 11-3. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Bobby Mitchell earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Kansas City used the clutch hitting of Brian Lynch to snag the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Bozek.
Kansas City goes to 66-49, Chicago to 59-56.
