Twins Deal Toronto 7-4 Defeat
|
Toronto right fielder Tillmam Velado had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Velado went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, even as Cincinnati beat the Juggernauts, 7-4. At 52-61, the Twins claim 4th place in the Eastern Conference Willis Briceno Division.
Jessie McMenemy had a big 3-run home run for the Twins in the bottom of the first inning. With Cincinnati trailing 3-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from Fisko Loera, who is tied for 6th in the EC in strikeouts with 152, and punished it. The result was his 22nd home run of the season, which put the Twins on top, 4-3.
"Glad to get this win," said McMenemy. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
