Friars Flatten Athletics, 11-1
|
The exploits of first baseman Felix Perez, who is tied for 2nd in the WC in RBI with 84, helped the San Francisco Friars defeat the Kansas City Athletics, 11-1. Perez was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The Friars go to 67-48, putting them second in the Western Conference Nala Forcelledo Division.
Amdre Ceclio had a big run-scoring double for the Friars in the bottom of the first inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Caro and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 27th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Friars ahead, 2-0.
Kansas City manager Joe Monagle called the blowout loss "not what we wanted."
