Stars Solve Friars, 6-2
|
The Los Angeles Stars got a good effort from starter Jordan Oliva in defeating the San Francisco Friars at Stars Ballpark. The final score was 6-2. Los Angeles, now 53-59, holds down last place in the Western Conference Brian Boots Division.
Cody McLaughlin had a big 2-run double for the Stars in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Los Angeles leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Shaun Chugh, who finished 4th in the WC in ERA with 2.54 in 2077, and swatted a double to center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stars ahead, 4-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers.
