Avispas Get 6-5 Win Versus Alaska
|
The Santiago Avispas besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Alaska first baseman Felix Perez by beating the Kodiaks, 6-5, at Estadio Guillermón Moncada. Perez went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Beau Eschmann, the winner, is now 14-6. He struck out 8 and walked 2 over 5.1 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. Picking up the save was 38-year old right-handed pitcher Jimmy Hsia.
Brian Zeeff, who finished 2nd in the WC in doubles with 55 in 2081, helped out the Santiago cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the shortstop was 1-3.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Zeeff told the Santiago Daily.
Santiago goes to 64-49, Alaska to 57-57.
