The Santiago Avispas got a good effort from starter Volk Miller in defeating the Portland Dragons at Estadio Guillermón Moncada. The final score was 9-2. The winner was Miller. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Tsunesaburo Kai. The Avispas now own a record of 45-68.

David Roman had a big 2-run double for the Avispas in the bottom of the first inning. With Santiago leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Tsunesaburo Kai and swatted a double to left. It was his 31st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Avispas ahead, 4-0.

"When I go out there," said Miller, "the last thing I want to do is let my teammates down."
