Victory Takes Cyclones to 63-49
|
The Miami Cyclones took on the Phoenix Thunderbirds at Kroger Stadium.
The Miami Cyclones defeated the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 7-4, in Eastern Conference action at Kroger Stadium. Miami pitcher Addy van Oostende had a standout performance. van Oostende, now 7-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs.
Chris Hale had a big 2-run double for the Cyclones in the bottom of the second inning. With Miami leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from John Hersey, who finished 4th in the WC in innings pitched with 211.0 in 2075, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cyclones ahead, 3-0.
"I thought he pitched pretty well," said Miami manager Chris Stephan. "Addy did his part."
The second-place Thunderbirds now sit at 54-58.
