Friars Stymie Los Angeles, Take 5-1 Win

The San Francisco Friars got a stellar performance from pitcher Jon Dehmer, who handcuffed the Los Angeles offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Stars Ballpark. In 5 innings, Dehmer surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Roger Calzada nailed down his 19th save.
San Francisco shortstop Kai-xi Leong contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a knuckleball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 77th hit of the season and put the Friars ahead, 2-0.
"I'm just out there trying to have as much fun as I can while I'm playing," Dehmer told the San Francisco Observer.
The third-place Friars have won 4 straight.
