Tae-sang Shinn was outstanding against Phoenix. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the WC with a 8.6 K/9 rate, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Aces 4-2 win. Shinn picked up the win for Las Vegas, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 6-9. J.P. McNealy notched his 8th save of the season.
The Aces got a big at-bat from left fielder Sardis Abrego. For the game, Abrego went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 22nd home run of the season gave Las Vegas a 2-0 lead.
"We had a good game plan," Shinn said, "and we were able to execute it."
The win makes Las Vegas 53-60.
