The Portland Dragons turned back the Miami Cyclones, 9-8, at Kroger Stadium. Felix Sanchez, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jimmy Witmer picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Victor Alonzo suffered the loss. Miami is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 10 games.

Chotaro Okada came through with a big-time hit for Portland. The third baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 9-8. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Same old, same old, unfortunately," said losing manager Chris Stephan.
