Stars Fall Short at San Antonio, 4-3
The San Antonio Angels dealt the Los Angeles Stars a 4-3 loss at Tesoro Stadium. Tony Tinoco, who finished 5th in the EC in on-base percentage with .386 in 2071, was the star on offense. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. San Antonio pitcher Bobby de Jager got the win. He's now 1-0. Billy Portillo was tagged with the loss. The win puts San Antonio at 20-16 this season.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Políbio Vicncio came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Luis Toledo, he hit a 1-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Antonio on top, 4-3.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Los Angeles skipper Pat Kaers.
