Vikings Drop 7-5 Decision to Phantoms
|
The Chicago Phantoms saddled the Minneapolis Vikings with a loss at Foster Field. The final score was 7-5. Luis Cortes was 2 for 5, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Chicago designated hitter scored 1 run and drove in 3. The win for the Phantoms raised their record to 19-17.
Cortes had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-1 cutter from Kwang-sik Nho, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Phantoms a 7-4 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Cortes.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Cortes told the Chicago Daily News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
