Spectres Drop Kings, 3-2
|
Fans watched the Philadelphia Spectres and the Baltimore Kings fight to the finish.
The bats were silent much of the day at Sony Field at Philadelphia. But 32-year old designated hitter Adam Stokes produced just enough offense to carry the Spectres past the Baltimore Kings, 3-2. Stokes went 2-2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Fidel Flores was credited with the save for Philadelphia, his 26th of the season.
Eishin Nonaka, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2070 draft, had a timely hit in the bottom of the sixth inning. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Philadelphia center fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the Spectres in front, 3-2.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Philadelphia manager Ryan Huff said.
The Spectres saw their win-loss record go to 59-50. At the same time, the Kings fell to 54-56.
