Spectres Thrill Fans with 8-6 Win
|
Getting a good performance from designated hitter Adam Stokes, the Philadelphia Spectres defeated the Baltimore Kings, 8-6. Stokes went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Spectres. Scott Franczak snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-5 on the season. Andy Mejia suffered the loss. With this game in the books, Philadelphia is 58-50, Baltimore 54-55.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Philadelphia trailing 6-4, Stokes jumped on a fastball from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Andy Mejia and hit a grand slam home run to left-center. With one swing, the Spectres had a walk-off win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Stokes said in his postgame press conference.
