Vikings Subdue San Francisco, 2-1
|
San Francisco pitcher Armando Mata gave the Vikings all they could handle, but in the end, Minneapolis left Minneapolis Grounds with a win, 2-1. Mata allowed 2 runs on 3 hits over 6 innings. Marcos Jurado, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Johnny Wickwire earned the save for Minneapolis, his 6th of the year.
Osdelvis Garcia, who led the EC in RBI with 131 in 2066, came through for Minneapolis with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. The designated hitter went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 2 runs batted in.
"We were in it," said San Francisco manager Jeremy Cooan. "We just didn't score enough runs."
Minneapolis now sits at 48-61, while San Francisco falls to 61-49.
