Tucson took on Houston in front of a lively crowd.
Tony Masso was terrific for the Tucson Toros in his team's 7-1 triumph over the Houston Aquas. His performance earned Masso rave reviews. Masso, the winner, moves to 5-11. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Edwin Castaneda picked up the save, his 6th.
In the bottom of the eighth, Tucson second baseman R.J. Dougherty had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Dougherty stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, Tucson. For the game, he went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I was able to fill up the zone," said Masso.
Tucson, now 46-62, holds down last place in the Western Conference Mike Stump Division.
