Kodiaks Trip Friars, 4-3, in Extra Innings
|
Fans who congregated at Staples Field were treated to extra-inning drama.
The performance of Ryan McCray proved critical in helping Alaska beat San Francisco, 4-3, in 14 innings. The Kodiaks right fielder was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ruben Guzman earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record is now 2-0. Earning his 1st save of the year was Ki-tong Lok.
Riichi Otomo had a direct impact on the outcome. Otomo contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put Alaska up, 4-3.
"If it's down the middle," said McCray, "you might as well hit it."
With the win, Alaska goes to 16-19, while the Friars fall to 22-12.
