Titans Suffer One-Run Loss at Havana
The Havana Metropolitanos and New York Titans obliged fans looking for a good time.

Luisbanis Valido added some punch to the Havana offense, helping them outmuscle the New York Titans, 8-7. In the game, Valido, who is a two-time All-Star, was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Miguel Torrez in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Shane Pursley took the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Paul Nelligan came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New York pitcher Ricardo Alas, he hit a first pitch changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Havana on top, 8-7.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Nelligan, "but we got it done."

The first-place Metropolitanos have a one-game lead in their division.
