Twins Get Clutch Win Versus Washington
|
The Cincinnati Twins satisfied the home crowd at Cincinnati Grounds, treating them to a season-opening win, 2-1, over the Washington Senators. Starting Pitcher Beau Eschmann was the standout performer for Cincinnati.
The decisive blow was delivered by Tim Champion in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a solo home run off 26-year old left-handed pitcher Jeff Kriz to win the game for Cincinnati. The home crowd went nuts.
Champion said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
