It wasn't easy but the San Diego Destroyers made it look that way.

Starter Trevor Laverick shut out the Miami Cyclones despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the San Diego Destroyers cruised to victory, 4-0. Laverick allowed only 3 hits and rang up 8 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

This year, Laverick has compiled a 1-1 record with a 4.95 ERA.
