The New York Titans beat the Buffalo Rangers, 4-1. New York pitcher and La Rosita, Texas, native Matt Pontius led the way. Pierre Prent earned the save, his 1st. The loss drops the Rangers to 2-1.

New York won the game in part because of Joji Mukai. The shortstop ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Titans ahead, 2-0. For the game, Mukai had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said New York manager Nate Beckman. "It's usually not just one thing."
