Gaedels Drop Spectres, 9-1
|
Sony Field at Philadelphia was the site for Eastern Conference action featuring the Philadelphia Spectres and St. Louis Gaedels.
Gaedels right fielder Javier Pantoja left his mark on his team's 9-1 win over the Philadelphia Spectres. Pantoja, who finished 5th in the WC in wins above replacement with 5.9 in 2071, hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for St. Louis in the contest. Andres Anguiano, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 2-3.
Izzy Ortiz was 1-5. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for St. Louis. The 28-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Franklin Lastre. It was his 37th hit of the season.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said St. Louis skipper Mak Dolnick.
With the win, St. Louis lifts its record to 18-13.
