Dragons Lose to Greens in Walk-Off
|
The Boston Greens defeated the Portland Dragons, 4-3, at Arrington Park. Boston shortstop Willie Monjes had a superb performance. He was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs. Eric Gossom, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 0.2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The defeat makes the Dragons 10-21.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Monjes hit a slider from Justin Kurth for a run-scoring double. The Greens, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"What a buzz," said Monjes after it was over.
