Dragons Rally to Win
|
The Portland Dragons outlasted the San Francisco Friars in an extra-inning thriller.
The San Francisco Friars could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Shaun Chugh into a win. Instead, the Portland Dragons prevailed, 4-3, in 10 innings. Chugh threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Portland pitcher Nate Daniels got the win. He's now 2-1. Jon Dehmer was tagged with the loss.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ginjiro Muranaka? The 24-year old shortstop Muranaka stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Portland up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Greg Carpenter.
Portland goes to 11-20.
