The Alaska Kodiaks picked up a win at Tundradome, taking down the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 9-3. Starting pitcher Alex Mayorga was a big reason why. The Thunderbirds, now 12-20, continue their slow start.

The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from left fielder Ryan McCray. For the game, McCray was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 13th double of the season gave Alaska a 4-1 lead.

"We maximized our offense today," said Alaska skipper Alex King. "That makes everyone's life easier."
