Late Rally by Phantoms Secures 7-3 Win
|
The Chicago Phantoms topped the San Francisco Friars, 7-3, with right fielder Jesus Pena playing a big role. Pena went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Phantoms in the win. The loss puts San Francisco at 1-2.
Had Willie Monjes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Monjes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Phantoms.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Chicago manager Sam J.
