Los Angeles picked up a win at Stars Ballpark, bumping off the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 5-3. Pitcher Rin Sakai was a major reason the Stars emerged victorious. With the win, Los Angeles is 2-1.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Daviel Davila came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Phoenix pitcher John Intriago, he hit a 3-1 sinker for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Los Angeles on top, 5-3.
Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers praised his team's "businesslike approach."
