The Kansas City Athletics captured an easy win, 12-2, over the Chicago Phantoms at Ballpark of Missouri. Ryan Clifford led the offensive barrage, going 4-for-4 for Kansas City. Gerald Tanton picked up the win, lifting his record to 3-1 on the season. He struck out 9 and walked 0 in 5.1 innings, while yielding 1 run. Kansas City is off to a hot start at 20-10.
Clifford contributed in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Kansas City get the win.
"This is one game in a long season," said losing manager Sam J. "The sooner we can forget about it, the better."
