The San Diego Destroyers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ben Flint into a win. Instead, the Alaska Kodiaks prevailed, 5-4. Flint threw 5.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Jeremy Allen earned the save for Alaska, his 1st. With the win, Alaska boosts its record to 13-17.
Had Riichi Otomo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Otomo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Kodiaks.
"I was a little disappointed," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
