Minneapolis turned a good performance from starting pitcher Brian Burda into a 3-2 triumph over the Los Angeles Stars at Minneapolis Grounds. Phil Payne notched his 8th save of the season. With the win, Minneapolis elevates its record to 17-12.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Joel Rouse came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Rin Sakai, he hit a first pitch slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Minneapolis on top, 3-2.

"Brian kept his poise and got the job done," said Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan. "He was outstanding."
