Rangers Take Down Lobster, 2-1
|
The Buffalo Rangers eked out a 2-1 win versus the Portland (E) Lobster at Ballpark of Portland. Nobody did more than pitcher Mike Trice. He was terrific. Trice, the winner, moves to 4-0. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Getting the save was Abel Downey, his 2nd.
Buffalo used the timely hitting of Katsuji Kanda to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rangers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like our moxie," said Rangers manager Alex Beckman.
The triumph makes Buffalo 16-13, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2079.
